Saturday Sutra LIVE

These special events offer a way for us to communicate, workshop, discuss, reset, play, and enjoy without attachment. Saturday Sutra LIVE events will be 3 hours in duration and each one will take on a life of its own. I ask that collectively we trust the process of our consistent self-practice and know that throughout the year there will be opportunities to gather together and honour the lessons learned at these events!

Saturday Sutra LIVE explained

The ancient yoga texts reference the importance of ongoing self-study (svhadyaya), consistent commitment to ones practice (abhyasa) and the releasing of our attachment to the many things not within our control (vairagya).

The act of releasing attachment is perhaps the hardest part for most of us, and is also the part I hope to work on together with this new format for your practice. To stay in your own dance of devotion while remaining rooted in faith where all is as it's supposed to be and that you are enough, as is.

As you continue to engage in the personal yoga practices, you support your understanding and acknowledgment of truth and personal worth. And before long – a spark within ignites. When we come together we then see the power of our personal actions, thoughts, and words. Positive energy creates more positive energy. As we harness the power of connection with loving intention, we can influence even greater positive changes in a much larger community. The individual small sparks come together and begin to illuminate.

My Hope –  To create community events that support your connection... not your escape.

‘But many of us seek community solely to escape the fear of being alone. Knowing how to be solitary is central to the art of loving. When we can be alone, we can be with others without using them as a means of escape.’

PHILOSoPHY

A day in the Hindu calendar, dedicated to the deity Surya, god of the Sun. He is considered the creator of the universe and the source of all life. He is the supreme soul who brings light and warmth to the world. Makar Sankranti is observed each year in the lunar month of Magha which corresponds with the month of January as per our Western calendar and is a day the people of India and Nepal celebrate their harvest.

According to legends, it is believed that Sankranti — after whom the festival is named — was a deity, who killed a demon called Sankarasur. In India, it is considered to be a date from when the sun begins to move north, as before Makar Sankranti, the sun was shining on the southern hemisphere. The Hindus believe this period to be the uttaarayan — or the period of auspiciousness and positivity.

The Sun and the Earth
The Sun causes day and night on the earth, because of revolution,
When there is night here, it is day on the other side,
The sun does not really rise or sink.
